Do Baby Birds drive Cars?

Image
I watched the little white car go up the street carrying my most precious cargo. It felt strange seeing those two little heads through the windows nodding and moving past my house. Those little heads used to be so small and round and covered with baby chick fuzz. It's hard to believe that I once held those precious tiny heads in my arms. Eyes that use to look up at me with wonder and surprise were now focused straight ahead on a road that lie before them. How do they do it? How do they grow up so fast right before your eyes? My oldest got a car, he is 16 years old now. This morning he took his brother to school who is 13 years old. I watched them drive off, a little nervous, but I knew they would be fine. It just looked so strange to see them in the front seats of a car with one of them actually driving the car! I wonder if this is how a mama bird feels when her babies fly out of the nest? Silly, I know but I really did feel a weird feeling in my heart, somewhat sad, but somewhat ...

Roman Soldiers and Triscuits!

Image
I got up this morning with a terrible headache. I don't know if it's just sinus or I drank too much wine last night. I went over my normal 2 glasses without eating any supper. Well I ate some triscuits , does that count? By the way, they were delicious. I tried a new flavor. It's called Fire Roasted Tomato with Olive Oil. YUM! If you haven't tried it and like triscuits (good source of fiber for me!) go get some. Here is what the box looks like. Besides eating triscuits and drinking wine last night, I helped my son finish a school project. He had to make a Roman Soldier out of a 20 oz coke bottle. We just gathered things from around the house to decorate it. My son is very creative and came up with unusual things to use. The top of the soldier's helmet is a toothbrush head. How cool is that? His shield looks really cool too. What I really like is what he used for the armor. It's duck tape in strips layered to look like armour. I think he did good. Here are ...

The Greatest Interview of All Times

JillJillboBill has interviewed me! How exciting is this? I feel famous and important. This is a really neat thing to do and if you want me to interview you, just leave and comment telling me so and I'll email you a set of questions for you to post on your blog. Some of these are pretty hard. Jill is a great interviewer, tough, but great nonetheless. 1. If money was no object, describe how you would make your life more perfect and why. First of all, I know that the love of money is the root of all evil. However, love of what money buys you is not considered evil. With that said, I would buy the perfect house loaded with all of the amenities every woman dreams of....plenty of closet space, huge kitchen, even bigger bath with sunken tub-floor warmers-vanity-the works! I would also have a perfect yard to match. Secondly, I would be debt free! And most importantly my kids would want for nothing. I would spoil them rotten to the core! 2. Where do you see your self realistically in ...

It's Monday

Image
So why do I have to go to work and my kids get to lay in bed? I thought that was totally unfair so to correct the situation I have left each of them a chore list. Ha! And to further my cause, I have posted signs all over my house, in pink paper no less! Boy is he going to be in for a surprise when he wakes up!

T'was the Day before Christmas

Image
It was the night (actually day) before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring to help mama clean, not even a mouse The stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that someone who would help clean would soon be there The teenagers were nestled all snug in their beds while mama cooked, cleaned and slaved needing her meds And mama in her "kerchief" (WTF?) and dirty dishes in the sink I hoped for a miracle or at least a stiff drink! When out of nowhere there arose such a clatter I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter Down the hall I flew in a flash opened the door with a smash When what to my wondering eye should appear but two fighting teenagers over xbox and their gear I screamed out loud and moved so lively and quick and said there will be no presents from St. Nick! I've had it with you two They'll be no more fighting I'm through! More rapid that eagles their chores came I shouted them out by name Clean toilets, clean ...

Cheese, Wrestling and Updates

Image
I wanted to give up dates for everyone on a few recent posts. (Actually I'm just too tired to think of anything creative and fun to read) Here we go: Not Speaking to Mama : Some readers have asked if my son is talking again and how long it took. He did manage to breakdown the very next day and asked me; "What are you cooking for supper?" He has been his normal teenager-mumbling-under -the breath-self ever since. No Show on the Snow : People have asked why we shut the school down if there was no snow. I guess you have to live in the South to understand this one. Since we rarely get snow, when it does happen, we are not equipped to handle it. There are no snow plows, sand trucks, salt trucks, chains on tires...things like that, so everything shuts down. What happened in this particular case was jumping the gun a bit. There was a threat of it (about a 100 miles away), so the schools thought they would close before it happened. I think it was just wishful thinking on their pa...

Not Speaking to Mama

Image
My 13 year old is not speaking to me, literally. He stopped yesterday around 5:45pm when I told him he had to get his hair cut. He is also grounded from X-Box because he didn't do his homework and then lied about it and said he did. His last words to me yesterday were; "You took away my X-Box, now you're going to take away my hair too?" How long do you think he can keep this up?? Is there a world record holder in this category?

Just Say NO to Jingle Bells on Shoes

Image
Here I am at the Comfort Inn on Friday night watching the CMT's Christmas Extravaganza with Larry the Cable Guy. You ask why? Well I drove down to the middle of nowhere to watch my son in a wrestling tournament. It was near Deliverance. We went to eat at Big B's Barbecue House and was annoyed the entire time by the giant jingle bells tied to our waitress' shoelaces. We cringed every time she came by and asked if we all were okay. At first I kept thinking it was my cell phone. I would check it and no missed calls! Then I thought one of those salvation army people must be outside the door. Then, finally I saw her feet and there was these huge silver balls tied to her shoes. Two over sized bells on each shoe. The sound was maddening. You can only image how ready I was to get out of there. (Besides they brought me cold cornbread) The food was mediocre at best. We did order some fried green tomatoes (no Kathy Bates did not bring them out to us nor was their a book signin...

Raw Bread?

Image
So my son and I were having a conversation last night about what he wanted for breakfast in the morning. He said he wanted raw toas t with raisins in it. I said; "raw toast? You mean you want some raisin bread not toasted." He said; "No, I want raw bread." I said; " Okay , that's fine" He's such a nerd!

Balls O' Fun

Image
Last Saturday Jeff and I took all of the kids bowling. There were 4 kids in all (yes we were brave)3years, 5 years, and my 13 year old with one of his friends. It was a hoot! I haven't bowled in quite some time so my form was a little off (ok a lot off) I was at the bottom of the scoreboard the entire time. Heck even the 3 year old was beating me! Of course there were a lot of contributing factors throwing me off of my game. First being, I could not find the right bowling ball. I like a ball weighing about 8 or 9lbs. Sounds easy enough, right? Noooo. Because all of the ones at that weight have finger holes cut for the size of spaghetti noodles (uncooked!). Now I'm not saying that I have fat fingers. They may be a little "chubby" but certainly not fat. I finally have to settle on an 11lb ball with holes cut for "chubby" fingers. Then...on top of the ball issue... It was hotter than Hades in there! I thought I would be cute and wear an adorable pair of jean ca...

A Nicer Post

Image
Okay, I'm feeling better now. I did have to take a couple of days off of work which did help me. My body finally returned to normal by mid day today. I have got to do better. I don't even know who that maniac was who posted on my blog yesterday! I'm sorry to be so negative. To be nicer I decided to post some pictures of people and things I like. I am enjoying a nice and relaxing evening in my semi-clean home with my baby (13 years old), my doggie and my kitty. My oldest is gone to TN for a wrestling tourney. I hope everyone is doing well. Smile and be happy (that's what I'm telling myself anyway) Peace and Love! My son catching a fish. He's an excellent fisherman...patience of Job Tea Cups at Disney World The beach...any beach...anywhere...anytime. Especially with my Honey...

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Image
I have two teenagers. Those of you who have or have had teenagers are now saying; "Bless your heart" and "Lord help her". Yep. I always heard how they change completely from sweet little darling angels into horrible, unrecognizable beings. It's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, no lie. Last night my 16 year old mocked my 13 year old. I don't know what was said exactly, but before I knew it, my 13 year old was flying across the ottoman toward my 16 year old. He looked like an NBA basketball star going for a slamdunk . I've never seen him jump so high. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever seen him jump. (There's not much jumping in X- BoxLive ) Before he attacked, I was able to scream stop it. He was so mad he picked up a notebook and threw it across the room before storming to his bedroom and slamming the door. I was shocked and amazed. This child had always been my sweet, gentle, laid back kid. He's normally quiet and shy a...

What A Beautiful Bouquet

Image
The reason you see a clump of pine tree needles in this glass is because a very sweet and dear feller brought these to me. I told him I would put them in water right away! They seem to be staying fresh. (I received them on Sunday) Well the whole reason I was honored with this thoughtful bouquet was because there was a proposal in the making-a marriage proposal. He is a younger man (3years old) but that's okay-he's just so cute! As the story goes-so told to me by his daddy-they were getting ready to leave the park (called Jo-Jo park)when my sweet feller said; "Daddy, are you going to marry MiMi"? When his dad asked why, he said;"Because I want to marry her too"! Then he picked this beautiful bouquet to go along with his proposal. How sweet is that? So of course I had to take a picture of it and share it with all of my friends. I'll let you know the wedding date! Elliot with dog and dog and blanket

My Baby is Sweet 16 Today!

Image
I can't believe it! There is no way this child can be 16 today! He was running around in diapers with a "passy" sticking out of his mouth yesterday and today he lies around in his boxers with an Ipod stuck in his ears. (umm...that doesn't seem much different I guess) Still it's hard to believe that my sweet angel baby is almost a man. He is such a good kid. I am very proud of him. Some of my most favorite memories of him include the day I first layed eyes on him-I fell in love instantly. It was the kind of love I had never felt before. For the first time I understood the meaning of unconditional love. I knew I would love and take care of this precious child for the rest of my life. I knew he would break my will and probably my heart a few times, but that no matter what I would love him until the day I died. I remember all of his firsts; first smile, first laugh, first steps...it all seems not so long ago. Now he's able to drive a car! This post, pictures ...
